Dead Man Blues
Jelly Roll Morton was jazz's first great composer and arranger. Each of these 8 arrangements were carefully transcribed from the original recordings and show off Jelly's imagination, humor, and contrapuntal technique. His music, more than any other, exemplifies the New Orleans style, with all its joy and exuberance. The instrumental parts don't present any range or technical problems, which leaves lots of room for personal expression.
